Your talent could make a difference.

Make a lasting mark on New Zealand society.

There are lots and lots of Boards looking for talented Directors, Governors and Trustees. Some are commercial enterprises, some are government entities, some are sports organizations, and some are charities similar ours. What these Boards have in common is a shortage in talent at the boardroom table: there are not enough talented people to go around.

Getting talented Board Members is competitive and tough.

So we will be blunt: if you have talent – real, boardroom talent – and if you are the sort of person that could help take our Charitable Trust to the next level, we would like you sitting at our boardroom table.

The remuneration is lousy: we do not pay our Trustees so much as one single Brass Razzoo. You will never get rich working with the Guardian Angels. But if you are the sort of Trustee that we need, that will not worry you in the slightest. Ours is an unglamorous higher purpose, and when everything is working properly hardly anyone will notice.

But you will notice. The community will feel “safe”. People will not be getting mugged or assaulted in the streets. Crimes of violence won’t be happening. Punks and low-lifes will not be intimidating people on our street corners. Taxi drivers will not be getting killed for their evening’s fares. Liquor store owners won’t be getting shot dead by gun-toting crims. Home invasions won’t be happening. Neither will gang violence. None of this nonsense will be going on here.

New Zealand will feel the way it used to feel: a great place to raise kids, the sort of place where you don’t have to lock your house doors, the sort of place where you can leave your car keys in the ignition.

New Zealand used to be like that, once. It used to be Paradise. And not too long ago, either. What the Hell happened???

As a Trustee you will be buying into our vision to roll back the clocks on Crime. New Zealand has “progressed” from these happy times of not too long ago, and we don’t like this “progress.” At all. You will be angry enough to want to make big changes to our New Zealand society. Good changes. We are going to hit the problem of Crime from every direction imaginable, using every legal avenue at our disposal. And you will have the Talent, Connections, and the sheer Bloody-Minded Willpower to make it happen.

You may or may not be able to Patrol the streets with The Lads: no matter – you will make your mark in Crime all the same.

As a Trustee you will be expected to be an upstanding, law-abiding citizen. A good example to youth, and a pillar of your community. You may/may not have a “Past” – we do not mind either way because we are focusing on the Present and the Future. You will have Vision and a great Strategic mind. Our Chief Executive Officer is an eminently practical, hands-on Lad, and under your guidance he can implement whatever strategies you and your Board of Trustees colleagues can direct.

Being a Guardian Angels Trustee is going to be really, really hard work – make no mistake about that! But making History is always hard work. And if our Board of Trustees does it right, we will have earned our place in New Zealand history. And future generations of New Zealanders will be taught in school about what we did, and why.

How’s that for aiming high? Do you think there is scope to do that on any other Board in New Zealand?

We didn’t think so.

Perhaps the first step ought to be a discussion over coffee or tea, to explore this opportunity and gauge your potential involvement. Let’s book a suitable time into each other’s diaries: our phone number is 027 334 0568 or 09 814 9922, or if you’d prefer drop us an Email at chieftain@guardianangels.org.nz.

We look forward to working with you.
