We are looking for leadership candidates to establish Guardian Angels Chapters throughout New Zealand.
A patrol in your neighborhood can happen only one way: by concerned individuals taking the initiative and accepting responsibility for their community outcomes. In practical terms, this means you need to train and organize a patrol, and then pull on the walking boots, a gleaming crimson satin jacket and red beret, and lead your fellow citizens on a walk through your streets, rain or shine, during the hours when your neighborhood is at risk from crime.
Nobody can look after your neighborhood better than you and your neighbors can. Not a hired security firm, not even the police. It’s your neighborhood. So take care of it.
This isn’t a journey that you will take alone: the Guardian Angels will provide your training for free, and you will train harder than any of your Volunteers. We will provide you with The Manual: a 550-page comprehensive guide containing 30 years of accumulated knowledge on everything a Guardian Angels leader needs to know, and you will need to memorize it. We will even help you organize your Chapter, recruit volunteers, obtain publicity and raise funds. Need a website page? We’ll put one onto this site for you.
But the first step is yours. You must Dare to Care, and then do something about it.
This is the Essence of Leadership: in order to be a Leader, you must be able to persuade others to go with you. And then you must go first, leading by example.
No experience? No problem – every leader has a first time.
Being a Leader is not the easiest job in the world. But it is one of the most satisfying things that you can do with your life. And the leadership skills that you can learn as a Guardian Angel will be applicable and useful to other aspects of your life: to your family, your career, and to any other activity you do. You will gain self-confidence in your capabilities: this is because being a leader of Guardian Angels is a practical, hands-on experience. And it looks great on your CV.
This isn’t just talk: if you can lead a Guardian Angels patrol into a dark alley at night, you can lead anybody anywhere and under any circumstances.
